HUMANOID
ARM
INTRODUCTION
This is a humanoid arm that is designed using Solidworks with real time hand measurements, 3D printed using PLA, assembled mechanically. Servos are used for performing actuations controlled using Arduino and flex sensors. This robotic arm is powered with 5 separate servos for 5 finger actuation along with 2 servos for pan and tilt of the wrist movement.
RESEARCH
Research was carried out on the types of robotic arms that are available in the market that are low cost and can be self built. Research was carried out on the 3D printable robotic arms that are already available in the market and the features of them. The research then moved towards how to control the robotic arms from remote places so that the people can control them in real time from far places. Research advanced to anthropomorphism concepts and usage of them in the robotics. Studies were carried out on the wrist movement and its mimics in robotics.
DESIGN BRIEF
To design and 3D print a low cost robotic arm that can control all 5 fingers individually along with the wrist movements that can be remotely controlled in real time by mimicking human hand movement.
CAD & RENDERS
The 3D CAD modelling of the concept was done using Solidworks and renders were carried out using Keyshot
PROTOTYPE
The parts were separately 3D printed using PLA material and assembled to check the working.
